The electric power school of Shandong Province lies at the foot of Mount Tai that the Five Mountains soly respect. The school was founded in 1958, It is a provincial and ministerial level's key special secondary school for training qualified personnel of electric power production and construction. The school is subordinate to the State Power Corporation, an is managed directly by the Electric Power Group Company of Shandong. Since its founding 40 years ago, More than 15160 graduates at all kinds of academic credentials have been trained in the school, more than 150 of them have already become the leader of factories or departments or higher positions, having made outstanding contributions to the electric power construction of our motherland.

Founded for more than 40 years, the school has already become a medium-sized applied talent's educational training base. The school has a campus of 184.1 mu, buildings of 96,000 square meters and fixed assets up to 68.32 million yuan. The computer- controlled library has a book collection of 210,000. The educational facilities include audio-visual center, computer center, modern multimedia classrooms, special classrooms, 2 x 300 MW + 2 x 125 MW simulative power-station, laboratories and practicing bases special for electric engineering, electronics, boiler, turbine, automatic control, as well as skill-training classrooms special for chemistry, pyrological meters, electromotive meters, pipelines and valves, delay protection of electricity and speed-adjust system. Among 295 staff members, including 54 with high rank academic title, 118 with middle rank academic title and 23 with master degree, 106 are professional teachers. The school was authorized as national professional qualification centre, computer and information technology test centre by Ministry of Labour, and professional qualification centre of Shandong Province by Labour Department of Shandong Province in 1999.

The school provides various secondary professional programs, emphasizing in Thermal Energy Equipment of Power Plant, Power Plant and Electric Power System, Automatic Control of Thermal Power Progress, Intensive Control of Thermal Power Plant, Power Plant Chemistry, Electricity Management and Applied Computer Technology, as well as medium or short term training in relevant specality as requested. The school has a total student population over 7,000, among which, 2022 are full time students, including ordinary secondary professional students, ex-servicemen trainee before work and young worker students, 4984 are correspondence students. In addition, the school provides college-level programs for 508 students in cooperation with other universities such as Science and Technology University of Shandong, Electric Power University of Shanghai, North China Electric Power University (NCEPU).

The graduated students of the school are welcomed by their employing units. The employment rate of graduated students still keeps over 98% in the severe employment market during recent years. The school has been entitled " Model Unit" for many times by the Electric Power Group Company of Shandong and Education Commission of Shandong Province, and hold the title of " Provincial Civilization Unit" for nine years. The school was recommended as the national-level key school by the Education Commission of Shandong Province in 1994 and became one of the earliest national "Double Civilization Unit" in Electricity Industry in 1996.
